There is a real sense that new winds are blowing in the new year and that clients are really trying to “get stuff done!” in 2020. With that in mind, Chris Bradley and I recently visited Number 10 to talk to our alumnus, Malcolm Reid, who is the current senior policy adviser to the Prime Minister on health and social care.
Once past Larry the cat, who was very comfortable sitting on his crocheted blanket on the window sill, amusing himself with the comings and goings of various heads of state, we walked up the “Hugh Grant staircase” (Malcolm’s words, not ours).
We openly shared thoughts on the new performance regime which is in the process of being developed. We reflected together that, if the noughties were about “targets and accountability” and the 2010s were about “exemplar models of care”, the 2020s will be about “locally focused delivery” – a reflection that we are moving towards greater personalisation of care which is designed by the teams who deliver it, planned around the local resources available.
Great to catch up, Malcolm – keep up the good work!
