2020 Delivery’s recent report examining the causes of rising mortality in the UK has been featured in The Economist – “Britain’s long-falling death rate has levelled out. A blip or something more?”
For more than 30 years, the number of people dying in the UK was falling. However, this trend changed in 2011. Since then, deaths in in the UK have risen: there were more than 40,000 more deaths in 2016 than in 2011. Our report shows a statistically significant increase in mortality, that has been sustained over 5 years. The report presents initial work on the potential causes.
