2020 Delivery and Portsmouth Hospitals Trust win Consultancy Partnership of the Year at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2019 for their project: Urgent Care Performance & Culture Change
The winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2019 were announced on 20 March at an awards ceremony in Westminster. These awards celebrate projects that have made a tangible difference to the NHS, for example by improving services, facilities or quality of life for patients, or by working more efficiently to save money.
The awards saw fierce competition with over 100 entries, with 16 winners decided by an expert panel of judges.
Targeting problems faced across the urgent care pathway, and associated staff morale, 2020 Delivery worked with frontline staff and senior management at Portsmouth to make rapid improvements by running targeted ‘sprints’. As a result of the intensive sprints and the training and mentoring of 20 improvement leaders, the Trust saw a step-change improvement in 4-hour ED performance. The Trust is now continuing to cultivate a cultural shift towards daily, proactive problem-solving.
We were particularly proud of the judges’ complimentary comments after our presentation for the Consultancy Partnership of the Year entry:
“The winners showed clear passion and enthusiasm from the whole team. The project was an excellent demonstration of how all clinical professions can deliver change, from board to ward. There is further vision for developing and sharing learning from this experience beyond the Trust.”
