Donato Melchiorre specialises in combining quantitative analysis with qualitative understanding towards improving public services and people’s lives. Whilst at 2020 Delivery, he has worked on multiple strategy projects, in particular within public health and the academic-clinical nexus.
His work has focused on working with four challenged NHS Trusts in preparation for winter. This was achieved through stakeholder engagement, analysis of current performance trends in the trusts and a comprehensive review of the national operational pressures escalation framework (OPEL), leading to a clear methodology for winter planning and an improved escalation framework. Donato has also determined the savings potential from an economic perspective for a specialist institute, strengthening the strategic case for establishing a world-leading care centre between two hospitals and a university.
Donato has commercial experience with global engineering firms, helping to deliver projects on-site. This has included working on the automation of a new assembly line for Jaguar Land Rover and resolving manufacturing conflicts of a new high-speed train for Bombardier Transportation.
Donato holds a Master’s degree in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge, completing his thesis on the economic and technical feasibility of using electric vehicles for domestic electricity storage. He also holds a Master of Engineering with Distinction in Mechanical and Energy Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
