Jonathan Chappell leads 2020 Delivery’s Heathcare Innovation practice. He advises NHS trust boards, clinical leaders, commissioners and central government departments on issues ranging from delivery of new population health models for chronic conditions, to investment strategies to deliver growth and transformation in a cash constrained environment.

Jonathan has over a decade of experience in healthcare and central government, having worked in NHS policy roles, as an analyst, and in consulting roles. He is interested in implementing Value Based Healthcare models at scale, organisational development approaches to cement partnerships, and new models that truly integrate mind and body care.

He has extensive experience in Academic Health Science Centres (AHSCs), advising the NHS and University partners on strategies to develop new world-leading models that transform outcomes, research and education. He is sought out by CEOs and MDs to assist in the most challenging political and partnership developments, to develop robust and saleable business cases, and to bring people together in their implementation.

He has developed deep knowledge of healthcare through a wide range of projects across the spectrum of care, from developing interactive pro-active care models for older people living with frailty, to advising trust boards on how to change their service portfolio to be more financially sustainable. Jonathan has also provided advice to governments across the world on health system delivery reform, including strategies for increasing international private patient business, to widening access in developing countries.

Jonathan also leads within 2020 Delivery aspects of people development, seeking to make 2020 Delivery the best possible place to grow a career in public service improvement. A trained executive coach, he brings leading personal development tools to his clients to complement his strategy and analysis skills.

Jonathan holds a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Oxford and a postgraduate certificate in coaching.
